BBC and Sky run into stormy weather

Broadcasters are having a circular argument in which nobody agrees

Here we go round the BBC mulberry bush. If Sky didn't charge us for using its platform, we could save 50m over five years, says the corporation. One might add that if MPs didn't insist on having parliament televised round the clock, whether or not anyone's watching, you could save 10m over the same span and devote that to helping local radio while still streaming Westminster to any interested laptop. Then the argument comes full circle as local BBC stations and centres warn they may have to make do with one weather forecaster rather than three and some forecasts for Newcastle may have to be made as far off as Leeds. Red-faced Sky in the morning, shepherds' warning?
