Bogus caller targets 98-year-old

A bogus caller has stolen hundreds of pounds from a blind 98-year-old woman in Dundee.

The man offered to carry out gardening work at the woman's home in Greendykes Road on Friday morning.

Despite being told that she did not want his services, the man was able to con his way into her home and stole more than £400 in cash.

Police are appealing for help in tracing the man, who was between 25 and 29 years old and had a Dundee accent.

He was about 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, and was wearing dark clothing.

Officers have also warned people not to allow strangers into their homes.
